LAHORE: Power catastrophe continues in diverse parts of the country as the electricity shortfall has climbed to 3,000 MW due to rise in mercury.The scheduled and unscheduled load-shedding has additional to the hardship of the people who took to streets and staged complaint. They burned bone fires to show their anger at the failure of power utilities to cater to their electricity needs.The period of load-shedding was increased in southern Punjab with the rise in temperature. According to MEPCO spokesman, southern Punjab is facing a shortfall of 600 MW.Load-shedding up to 4 hours is being undertaken in cities while rural areas have to bear 7 to 8 hour power outages every day.
