KARACHI: The Super Eight round of ICC Twenty20 World Cup is kick off today.
Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in their opening competition of the Super Eight tomorrow at the Lord’s of London. Abdur Razzaq would play from the Pakistani side in place of injured Yasser Arafat; he was allowable by the ICC technical committee.
Australia, Bangladesh, Scotland and the Netherlands have all departed the World Cup following the group stage. The eight qualifiers are divided into two pre-determined groups, E and F.
Group E is made up of the top seed from groups A and C and the second seeds from groups B and D, with the reverse in Group F. Each country plays three Super Eight games.
West Indies and Ireland take the seedings of the deceased Australia and Bangladesh. The top two from each group progress to the semi-finals.
The first match will be played between the teams of Ireland and New Zealand and the second one to be played flanked by England and South Africa.
